Q & A for EV Charging at the St George Motor Boat Club:
Getting started
1. Where are the EV chargers located?
The Club has installed three EV charging stations, providing six charging points, in the lower car park. Look for the designated EV charging bays.
2. Are the chargers free to use?
No. The charging stations operate on a user-pays basis. Charging fees are displayed through the Exploren app, allowing members and guests to check the applicable rate before starting a session.
3. How do I start a charging session?
Download the Exploren app and follow the instructions to register and set up your payment method. When you arrive, connect your vehicle to the charger using a compatible charging cable, select the charging station in the app and follow the instructions to begin charging.
4. Do I need to bring my own charging cable?
Yes. The chargers use standard Type 2 connections, so drivers should bring their own compatible charging cable. If you forget your cable, you may borrow one from Club Reception. Please return it promptly after use.
5. How long will it take to charge my vehicle?
These are AC destination chargers, designed for convenient charging while you enjoy the Club. Charging time will depend on your vehicle’s charging capability, battery size and current battery level. The chargers are suitable for topping up your battery during a meal, function or longer visit rather than providing rapid charging.
Parking and charging etiquette
6. Can petrol or diesel vehicles park in the EV charging bays?
No. Please keep the designated EV charging bays available for electric vehicles that are actively charging. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping these spaces available for members and guests who need them.
7. Can I leave my EV parked in the charging bay after charging is complete?
Please move your vehicle as soon as reasonably possible after charging is complete so another driver can use the charger. The Club encourages members to be considerate of others, particularly during busy periods.
8. Is there a maximum time limit for using the EV charging bays?
The charging stations are intended for destination charging while members and guests enjoy the Club’s facilities. Members are encouraged to move their vehicles once charging is complete. Any specific parking time limits will be subject to the Club’s parking arrangements and displayed signage.
9. What happens if another vehicle is blocking an EV charging bay?
Please notify Club Reception or the Duty Manager. Club management will address the matter in accordance with the Club’s parking policies.
Technical support and assistance
10. What should I do if the charger is not working?
First, check that your charging cable is securely connected to both the vehicle and the charging station. Next, confirm that you have successfully started the charging session through the Exploren app. If the charger still does not operate, contact the customer support number displayed on the charging station. For safety reasons, please do not attempt to repair or reset the equipment yourself.
11. Who should I contact if I have difficulty using the Exploren app or making payment?
Please contact the charging network’s customer support service using the contact details displayed on the charging station or in the Exploren app. Club Reception can assist with general information about the charging facilities.
12. Who should I contact if there is damage to a charger or a problem with the charging bays?
Please notify Club Reception or the Duty Manager, who will arrange for the issue to be reported to the appropriate service provider.
